The All Souls Procession this year was tremendously memorable. I served in the media circle again this year. It was pouring rain when I arrived at the start but the weather cleared up for the actual procession. I was sitting in the media area and waiting for the finale performance and expressed to my neighbor I was thankful the rain stopped. In that moment I looked up and I could see a few drops above me in the sky through the spotlights. I head a few squeals in the crowd as people started to get wet and then the sky completely opened up, lightning striking within a mile and it started hailing on us.
Despite the cold and wet weather I was able to capture many photos of the effects of the rain on the soul of the procession this year. The rain did lead to a smaller turnout than usual but once the procession started the streets were still lined with members of the community participating in the event.
The following is a selection of some of my favorite images of the event this year.
